Tennis center – Malaga, Spain

In one of the edges of the river Guadalhorce, the city of Málaga is developing its new sports area, having already a basketball arena, a multisport arena, a aquatic center… and so in our studio class it was proposed the design of a tennis center with different tennis, paddle courts, both for competition and training.

Because there are many possible users: sportsmen, tennis players, paddle players, audience, coaches, workers… and the site has a very strong topography, the project contains different walkways at different levels to simplify the tours around the center. The needs for each use are studied carefully.

The building itself is developed in two levels, around a green resting area, with all the interior spaces looking into it. Open air zones are placed among rooms to bring nature into the building. The ground floor includes the offices and public spaces and the lower one the gym, restrooms, changing rooms, restaurant…

As we can see in the section, the floor plans of the two levels are different to make sure the building is as opened to nature as possible. The courts are also located at different heights, that way the user can easily know where on the site he is at every moment.
