BBVA m.e.p. – Saenz de Oiza

For our first M.E.P. course (junior year 2009/2010) the whole class had to work on the development of all the systems of a famous building, the BBVA headquarters in Madrid, Spain, designed by Saenz de Oiza in 1981.

First we had to study the building and its structure to understand how it works and be able to suggest the systems. The skyscraper holds offices and its main characteristic is that every four floors there is an empty fifth that contains all the plumbing, mechanical or electrical systems. In that floor is where we need to design the air-conditioning and ventilation systems.

The mechanical system chosen is a central compress management air system, located in that floor, and one of the most popular at the time, even though nowadays there are some more efficient options.
