Masterplan for the new AirportCity – Malaga, Spain

Málaga’s airport has recently grown due to the increasing attendance of passengers and flights. The nearby city of Alhaurín will suffer a natural development, with new inhabitants and companies related to the airport. It is necessary, then, to understand how the village works nowadays and so, how, where, when it should grow.

There is obviously already a master plan proposed for the area, but in our opinion there were some aspects that could be improved.

That’s why we first need to define first on what we need to base the proposal, so that then it can be adjust to the area. The project has natural shapes, a more organic design, to counteract the hardness of an airport.

There are two green areas, crops to the north and an urban park to the south. In between these two we find a business ring and a residential one northern to it, where nature is present too. It is very important for the proposal to make sure construction and vegetation interact.
